"This portrait is of Michael Gira, the mastermind behind extreme art rock band Swans. What attracted me to this image was his affected lost expression.  In my version he looks more lost and pathetic than the original photo. At the time I painted this I was interested in male archetypes/stereotypes such as the loner and outcast."
