"This work was one of a series based on a pile of cow bones my girlfriend found in a field near Lithgow (they were mostly dry, but with some dry flesh and tendons still holding them together, and a fair few bugs still working on them) . Knowing how much I'd like them, she piled the skull, spine, pelvis and ribs into the back of her friend's car and brought them back to Sydney. 

They are fascinating objects of study. In this case the vertebrae appear somewhere between a landscape and a grotesque figure; both cute and a bit horrifying."
