"I'm attracted to ugly architecture and buildings that look like accidents, and I draw them as an excuse for spatial compositions and experiments. I found this one in Surry Hills. It’s hard to make out, because it has a void on the inside and an enclosed bridge to bring the two halves of the building together. It’s the transparency that interested me, and the bridge that seems almost poetic – like a very faint echo of Venice."
