"I paint flowers quite often, but I find flowers most beautiful when they are well past perfect. Dead or dying poppies are a favourite. In this case I think the almost neon colours, painted in jagged complementaries, seems to counter the assumption that dead flowers are dull or lifeless. They are often more colourful and more delightful than fresh ones. "
